Instagram is testing new ad formats. Recently, SumUp, an e-payment device service, tested an Instagram direct response ad in stories that allowed users to swipe up to sign up for their services. But developers are hoping the ads will allow more options than just sign ups, in addition to its broad “reach” objectives it currently offers.
They are also testing ad formats that promote app installs. Lead generation is a huge opportunity for this market and any brand wishing to grow their leads. Eventually, Instagram is hoping to offer all the same ads it offers in its feed through Stories. The release of direct response ads in Stories is also another ploy to compete against Snapchat.
