Buy, buy, buy! How Pinterest wants to sell to you.

Social media sites are all trying to keep users on their site. Advertisers are trying to get these same users to buy their product by going to the brand’s site. As a compromise, many social media platforms are introducing “buy now” options so consumers can purchase advertised items directly from the social media platform itself. Pinterest is no exception to this. Buyable pins have been available on Pinterest since June, however, the site has now added three new e-commerce platforms. This has increased the amount of buyable pins to 60 million, more than doubling the previous number. The site is still facing its fair share of challenges from competitors, many steming from being late to the game in including a “buy” button.

Was Pinterest too late or will they be able to catch up to the competition?
