It seems like every few weeks Twitter has a new update. And it seems like with each update, Twitter is trying to be more like Facebook. Twitter’s users are not pleased with this. They were angered by the change to a heart rather than a star, annoyed by Twitter switching the Notifications and Moments buttons, and now, users are upset with the platform’s newest experiment, out of order tweets.
Since its inception, Twitter’s timeline has featured a reverse-chronological format. Users know this format. Users love this format. But Twitter selected a few random users to test an “out of order” timeline using an algorithm similar to Facebook’s. According to Twitter’s spokesperson, this is “an experiment. We’re continuing to explore ways to surface the best content for people using Twitter.”
I for one am hoping Twitter decides to ditch this update.
